San Andreas actress Alexandra Daddario revealed her real-life experiences with earthquakes. She starred as Blake in the 2015 disaster film opposite Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino, who played her parents, Ray Gaines and Emma, respectively. San Andreas centered on Ray, a Los Angeles Fire Department Air Rescue pilot, who struggles to rescue his ex-wife and daughter after an earthquake completely destroys San Francisco.

San Andreas became Warner Bros. highest-grossing movie of 2015 and a sequel was announced the next year - though little has been revealed about that project since then. Daddario has also been seen in True Detective and American Horror Story, as well as Baywatch, which reunited her with San Andreas co-star Dwayne Johnson.

It turns out some of the actress's performance was actually based on real-life experiences because Alexandra Daddario has survived earthquakes off-camera too. When speaking to Den of Geek, the San Andreas star explained that since moving to Los Angeles, she had been in several minor earthquakes. Daddario also revealed nothing too crazy occurred during these quakes, stating, "The worst thing that happened was my dog jumped into my arms. But nothing big."

Daddario also revealed people did warn her about earthquakes before she moved to California. However, the San Andreas actress stated that because there hasn't been a major one since 1994, it doesn't seem to be as big of an issue to most of the state's residents as it once was. Daddario also mentioned the "extensive preparedness kits" she'd seen people keeping around in case an earthquake struck. She said there was the feeling that it was going to happen eventually because it had been so long since a bad one had hit. To her, it seemed as though some residents were "preparing for the apocalypse", but that in general, people were just more mindful about stocking up on the necessities, such as food and water.

Earthquakes are something most people don't really think about unless they live somewhere that sees them as a common occurrence - or they're watching a movie like San Andreas. It's no doubt useful for an actor to have some real-life inspiration behind their performance, though fortunately for Daddario, she never had to live through anything quite so horrific and intense as Blake. The recent earthquakes in Southern California probably have residents preparing for the worst, though thankfully, they are also unlikely to suffer the same level of destruction as the characters in San Andreas.
