Andor is one of the newest additions to the Star Wars universe and continues to impress audiences with its intelligent writing and complex characters. The nuance that has been put into each main figure should not be overlooked, with each personality easily defined based on their motivations and points of view.

The dialogue only helps to back up that fantastic work, and each character has a quote emphasizing what they are all about. Whether they are fueled by the rebellion, want to stay out of trouble, or serve the Empire itself, these lines from the script reflect their position in the galaxy far, far away.

"They Can't Imagine It... That Someone Like Me Would Ever Get In Their House."

Cassian Andor - Episode 3

Cassian Andor has spent his life running away from authority. His outlook on life is defined by his class and station. He's invisible to so many because of his poverty, but he knows that a lack of wealth doesn't make him any lesser. He hates the Empire because of how they see people like him.

This quote effectively sums up his ideology and marks the first step into becoming a true Rebel. He understands that he has something to offer the resistance movement and is hateful of the gluttonous imperial regime that has swept across the galaxy. This ideology is only going to aid his cause down the line and thematically plays into most episodes of Andor.

"You'll Be Turned In."

Bix Caleen - Episode 7

Thus far, fans haven't seen enough from Bix. She is still very much loyal to her local town and living in the shadow of the Empire. She represents small moments of Rebellion and has been aiding Luthen, but her hope has been beaten back by successive events.

Right now, while she may be one of the last bastions of defense, she understands that luck is not on her side. The betrayal and then murder of her boyfriend changed something inside Bix. She knows that there's no hiding anymore, telling Cassian he'll be turned in. The walls are closing in, and Bix remains brave but entirely pragmatic about the situation.

"She's A Rebel."

Bix Caleen On Maarva Andor - Episode 8

Maarva Andor is a fascinating figure. She saved Andor when he was a young man and brought him up as her own. She has always pushed back against the Empire, but as she has gotten older, her heart has been in the fight more and more. She has nothing left to lose.

When questioned on Maarva's motivations, Bix Caleen sums her up perfectly. She's a Rebel and will likely die fighting for the cause. There are many figures throughout Star Wars history who have helped to turn the tide, and Maarve might just prove to be essential to the defeat of the Empire. At the very least, she has forever inspired her son.

"Is There A More Important Issue... Than Imperial Overreach?"

Mon Mothma - Episode 9

Mon Mothma has dedicated her life to service to the Republic and the Senate. During the period of time that Andor is set, she is very limited in what she is able to do to fight against the Empire, operating just out of sight. She has yet to play her cards fully but won't hold her tongue politically.

This quote demonstrates why she does what she does, afraid of what will happen if the powers of the Imperials continue to go unchecked. She puts it in a way that meshes with the facade she's created, but it also demonstrates her bravery in publicly condemning the fascist regime.

"Hold Your Program... We Have Heard Nothing."

Kino Loy - Episode 9

Kino Loy has spent a long time in the prison system. He has risen up the ranks by being loyal, not causing trouble, and staying in line. He understands that the order of things is a necessity. To break that order is to incur the wrath of the guards. But there is always a little doubt.

Episode 9, in particular, questioned his whole worldview. With rumors that prisoners were killed for no reason, Loy continues to have trouble fighting back, ordering his men to keep holding the program and that they should keep their heads down. There is only so long that Kino can claim to be ignorant, though. Those who know the Rebel Alliance well understand that people who join usually have a breaking point like this.

"This Is The Murder Of Two Pre-Mor Employees."

Syril Karn - Episode 1

There are plenty of quotes that sum up Syril's descent into the depths of the Empire. Episode 9, in particular, boasts a fantastic speech from the character about why the system isn't fair. But his first true outburst of anger, which demonstrates how he sees the world, occurs after he is told to drop a murder case.

Karn doesn't understand why they should ignore that two of their men had been murdered. He's by the book and a patriot, looking to serve the system as best as he can. It's a case that he gets obsessed with, with his actions leading to him latching on to Cassian. Syril won't let any of this go, and that has come to define his character in Andor.

"If You Can't Deliver, I Need To Know."

Luthen Rael - Episode 4

For Luthen the Rebellion isn't a game. While others like Mon Mothma fight the Empire in their palaces and temples for so-called democracy, Luthen has a real understanding of the grit and reality of those who are dying on the ground to make this work.

This line is delivered with genuine intensity, as he switches between his personalities with such ease, from the showman to the resistance leader. Luthen cares about results, not people. He doesn't want excuses and is one step ahead at all times, constantly planning for what might happen next. In his mind, it's the only way to get the job done.

"Gut Instinct."

Dedra Meero - Episode 4

Dedra Meero doesn't quite fit into the Empire, at least not in the conventional sense. She goes off book and doesn't enjoy following the rules, a concept that calls back to other Star Wars properties. While she agrees with the ideology of the Emperor and believes in order, she follows her gut instincts in every decision she makes.

She's incredibly intelligent and adaptable, which makes her more dangerous than most Moffs and Admirals, who are often caught out when the system doesn't work in their favor. Meero will continue to try and change the infrastructure she is limited by, and that will make her or break her.

"Maybe I'm A Rich Girl. Running Away From My Family."

Cinta Kaz On Vel Sartha - Episode 8

Vel Sartha is dedicated to fighting the Empire, but her motivations are initially somewhat clouded. It turns out she's the cousin of Mon Mothma and felt she couldn't stand by while others were dying protecting the rights and freedoms that she wanted to uphold.

But many view Sartha as a rich girl who ran away, something that her partner Cinta Kaz also parrots. Whether it's true or not is up for debate, but the line cuts deep for Vel, who is also clearly unsure how accurate it really is. That's a complex that she continues to battle as she identifies why she's chosen her path.

"She's Doing What She Was Told."

Kleya Marki On Cinta Kaz - Episode 7

She might have found romance when joining the cause, but Cinta Kaz won't let anything get in the way of the mission. She does exactly what she's told, following orders despite how dangerous or morally gray they could be. She only serves the greater good.

She's lost everything to the Empire and is understandably committed to the Rebellion. The character is sure to have to make some tough choices as the series progresses, but she's already held hostages at gunpoint and perhaps dispatched of them to free the galaxy. It's a no-mercy approach.
