With the final DLC, "The Last Chapter" of Assassin's Creed Valhalla set to release later this year, fans are excited to see what new things will be added to the game. Even after 2 years of its launch, players are still discovering new and hidden things to do in the beautiful open world created by Ubisoft.

Other than the rich single-player story, Assassin's Creed Valhalla offers a ton of side quests and challenges to the players that often go unnoticed by casual players.

Exploring The Lore Outside Of Animus

Assassin's Creed games have centered around a modern-day person using the animus to relive the memories of someone in the past. Valhalla is no different, but unlike some of the past games, players don't come out of the animus very often. But there is a lot of lore to discover outside of the animus as well if the player can be bothered to explore this area of the game.

Players can check Layla's laptop for some extra storylines and lore, including the effect of Covid-19 on the Assassin's Creed world making the games seem more present and real. Layla can also interact with other people in real life and the topics of conversation will differ depending on where the players are in the game storyline.

Finding Tolkein References

Not a lot of players are aware of the few J. R.R Tolkein references spread out in the game. These references were put in place by the developers either because of the similar themes and settings of the game or just because the developers were a fan of his work.

If players visit the pagan community in Gloucester, they might come across a note from the community which has references to "Bilbo's small home", there is even a small ring on top of the envelope that further cement the reference. There is also a character called, Degolas which is likely a reference to the elf, Legolas. As Tolkein is the inspiration for the fantasy RPGs of today, it's nice to see a homage to him within their works.

Getting Free Adrenaline

Assassin's Creed Valhalla players are aware of the importance of adrenaline as a resource in the game. Accumulating it can be annoying at some times but there is a simple yet hidden exploit that players can use to fill up their adrenaline resources.

Players can simply assassinate some of the strawmen who are always just standing around Eivor's settlement to gain some free adrenaline. These are just some of the tricks and shortcuts only die-hard fans of the game know and let's the player start of fights with an advantage.

Visiting Asgard And Jotunheim

Asgard and Jotunheim are popular mythical lands from Norse mythology and in the same way Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Origins incorporated mythical elements from the time period, players can visit these areas in Valhalla. This is achieved by unlocking a quest that takes the player to Asgard and Jotunheim, the discovering of which can open a lot of interesting lore related to the game. It is also one of the best locations to visit in the game.

After building a house for Valka, she guides the players on a vision quest that will take the players there. But it's recommended to visit them only if at a high level as otherwise, the player can potentially get stuck in the mythical lands.

Killing Winnie The Pooh

While a lot of players are aware of the presence of an in-game version of Winnie The Pooh named, Winifred, not a lot of people know that they have a chance to kill him as well. The Winifred world event, is quite wholesome, with players helping a young boy in the woods; making the ability to kill him even more surprising.

The house looks quite similar to the Hundred Acre Woods and the boy even mentions a bear who happens to be his friend. Once the players help him get the honey for the beer, they can follow him to the lake where his other friends, a donkey, and a pig are also present. Players then get an option to fight and kill the beer, although keep in mind that the fight can be challenging and gamers may not want to be associated with the death of a beloved children's character.

Finding The Animus Glitches

Some players have discovered "glitches" in the game which reminded them of The Matrix. These glitches seem to be present as a subtle reminder to the players that they are in fact, in a simulation.

These glitches are quite well hidden, some of them can be found near Needham Lake in East Anglia and southwest of Saint Albanes Abbey in Oxenefordscire. These glitches appear as sci-fi-themed platforming bouts and are good at creating a feeling that the player is just slightly out of sync with the world they're in.

Finding The Sea Monster Skeleton

To find the location of the skeleton, players will need the Wrath Of The Druids expansion DLC. Although the DLC itself is full of hidden details, finding the sea monster is quite an intriguing one, and one of the reasons Assassin's Creed Valhalla is also considered to be a great adventure game.

If players head over to the bay near the northeastern corner of Ireland, there will be a group of bones scattered around the shoreline of what appears to be a large fish or sea monster. The bones raise some interesting lore questions like whether this monster still exists in the game and if there are more out there. The developers must not have put them there by accident.

Finding The Codex Pages

Once players have unlocked the Hidden One Bureau in the settlement, Eivor can begin to help Hytham in collecting the Codex pages. Although this is stated in the quest log, there are no waypoints for finding them.

For players who enjoy the lore behind the Hidden Ones and the Assassin Brotherhood, finding the codex pages will be very fun. Players will have to look at their maps and figure out where would the Hidden Ones have set up so that they could look over and control the leaders in power. Finding the pages will also unlock new equipment and other surprises, making it one of the best sidequests in the Valhalla.

Story Of The Three Daughters

There is a ransacked home in the easternmost part of the map, where players can come across quite a sad story but also gain a new piece of gear. There they'll find a small tattered home with a creepy aura around it.

Upon exploring the home, players will discover some small notes lying around. These notes tell a disturbing story of a man and his three daughters. Further exploring the area will lead to a tomb behind which is a locked door and a hidden piece of gear.

Finding The Homestar Runner Reference

Homestar Runner is a flash-animated web series and is quite often referenced in video games. In Valhalla, players can find a piece of parchment titled "Tove's Tattoo Ideas". The parchment describes a tattoo idea which is a reference to Trogdor The Burninator from the Homestar Runner series, episode Bad Email #58 - Dragon.

This fun little easter egg is something most players will never discover, and not all who do will even realize the connection. But its a nice little nod to the web series by the AC developers.
