Rumors of a new open-world Star Wars game have been swirling, with fans sharing mixed feelings on the game's creation and what it should include if it is happening. Open-world gaming has been rapidly expanding for the last decade, with many games having better multiplayer and co-op modes than the single-player option.

In many cases, open-world games have goals that are easier achieved with a team of people since their worlds are vast and take much longer to complete with only one player contributing. Since many of these games have no official end, teams can play for long periods or swap players in and out.

For many players, Minecraft has become one of the most comforting games when played in creative mode or walking around other players' villages and seeing the lush creations they have made. Besides being one of the more relaxing games on the market, Minecraft has continually allowed players to make their own servers to make their dream villages on their own terms. By catering to a wide range of ages, the game has brought people together to construct well-thought-out structures that other games do not allow because of their lack of creative mode and restrictive building functions.

In terms of multiplayer, Conan Exiles can be played on multiplayer servers or in co-op mode for those who would rather play with their friend than people from the community. This allows for similarly skilled users to come together with the greatest chance of survival, rather than a tribe of people who are mismatched and will likely not make it far because of their lack of compatible assets.

Even though Fallout 76 is one of the biggest open-world games for PlayStation 4 based on file size, the multiplayer version of the game is worth the amount of space it takes up. Fallout 76 doesn't require squad members to be known to one another, allowing new players to meet others in the community and learn from them as they play the game.

With realistic consequences to their actions and exposure to the post-apocalyptic elements, players are fully immersed in a world that could be, giving Fallout an eerie feeling that rivals some of the best horror games on the market.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim wasn't multiplayer when it was released, but it has since added a co-op option to the game and was dubbed Skyrim Together Reborn. As reported by Game Rant, the game is the same as the single-player version but allows players to fight side by side and traverse the world together.

Unlike other games that expand through a series of updates, Skyrim was released with a massive map that would keep players exploring for more extended periods before tiring of the available content. For its time, Skyrim was highly detailed with its graphics and provided players with an experience that still rivals newer releases, speaking to the quality of the game overall.

Despite having simple-looking graphics, the game emphasizes collecting items that keep players engaged while they build and provides breaks from the stress of constantly creating. Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is one of the most stressful open-world games, but with the multiplayer option engaged, the game becomes easier and more like an actual pirate situation as other players help make up the ship's crew.

Besides realistic gameplay, the graphics in Sea of Thieves is nothing short of stunning as the ocean changes with the weather depicted and landscapes being traveled. Quests within the game have features not included in other franchises, like riddles and mysteries that need to be solved to progress. The combination of different types of games within Sea of Thieves makes it unique to other sea fairing adventures.

Saints Row

Even though the reboot to Saints Row didn't get a great reception from long-time fans, the game was a hit with those who didn't play the original franchise. Like other games based on being a criminal, the game allows for a co-op mode that will enable players to unite to defeat other criminal gangs and take over their territory.

Some of the draws to Saints Row is how outrageous the weapons and vehicles are, giving the game a feeling that nothing is off limits, which is uncommon in most crime-based games, as they follow real-world rules to a point.

Star Citizen

Star Citizen combines the most popular features of many different games and throws them into a space setting that allows players to explore and build throughout the galaxy. Even though the game does require players to make a sizable investment with their real-life money to begin playing, it provides a unique experience, and higher stakes to every battle fought as players try to protect the ship they paid for. With a large map, Star Citizen takes a considerable amount of hours to complete but has a high level of replayability, making the start-up cost worth the price.
