At the Game Awards held on December 8th, video game fans got to have a first look at the new trailer for Team Ninja's latest game Wo Lang: Fallen Destiny, releasing on March 3, 2023. This game seems to be a new Nioh game but set in China rather than Japan. The game will bring a similar combat with the same concept of spiritual guardians returning, but fans can expect new variations of weapons.

Team Ninja has long been known for their compelling action games which often take place in Feudal Japan. Games like Ninja Gaiden and Nioh have long been hailed as some of the greatest Feudal Japan games ever.

Metroid: Other M (2010)

Metroid: Other M is a fantastic game that really keeps the spirit of the older games but vastly improves the gameplay to feel more modern. Even though this is the only Metroid game that Team Ninja made it stands as one of the best.

Fighting with Samus and jumping onto platforms above is better than it ever has been. The primary downside of the game is its story which is a bit bland, which doesn't make for interesting play. In addition, Samus's character herself probably hasn't been worse than in this game.

Hyrule Warriors (2014)

There are many crossovers with other franchises that have made up the Warriors games and Team Ninja had the privilege of working on two of them. Hyrule Warriors was an absolute breath of fresh air for Zelda fans that had never played a Dynasty Warriors game before.

The characters were designed in familiar and new ways giving some of the best versions Zelda fans had ever seen of them. The story was familiar but with plenty of new plot points and characters to keep the overall game fresh and fun.

Dead Or Alive 3 (2001)

Fighting games have been a big deal for a long time and Team Ninja's fighting franchise, Dead or Alive, are the first games that the developers made and are what made them popular in the beginning.

While the game is fun with addictive gameplay and a solid story, the game doesn't quite feel like anything special as opposed to other major fighting games. However, it's an essential game to play for gamers attached to the characters of the franchise.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword (2008)

Team Ninja is perhaps best known for Ninja Gaiden and its various sequels. Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword itself is easily one of the best Ninja Gaiden games made and was released only for the Nintendo DS.

Because of this, Dragon Sword made the game more simplistic and overall easier gameplay-wise. This wasn't a bad thing, however, because it did bring so many fans to the franchise and was the perfect game to introduce younger players into the game specifically.

Fire Emblem Warriors (2017)

Fire Emblem Warriors, one of the best Fire Emblem games, is the other Warriors game that Team Ninja made and is the perfect game for Fire Emblem fans.

There are many characters to choose from, however, the game does limit itself to only a couple of the Fire Emblem games. The story itself is a bit weaker than Hyrule Warriors, however, the gameplay is greatly improved and offers exciting challenges located in other game modes.

Dead Or Alive 4 (2005)

Dead or Alive 4 was the long-awaited entry in the franchise and was the perfect successor to Dead or Alive 3, surpassing the game in almost every regard. The combat felt far fresher and more unique, and the story was fantastic.

The online game mode also made this game far more competitive and addicting allowing players to fight either their friends or random players. PVP has long since been a key feature to keep fighting games alive and online modes have helped these games immensely.

Nioh 2 (2020)

While Nioh 2 isn't quite as good as its predecessor it is still a blast and offers a wider range of customization, making it feel more like an RPG than Nioh did. The combat is more difficult in Nioh 2 than in the first one and shifting into the yōkai form proves to be an essential and useful feature in the game.

There are enough similarities between the two titles that players will be able to pick up on the general mechanics of the game more easily, but there is enough difference that it will feel like a fresh new video game with tons of challenging foes and bosses.

Dead Or Alive Ultimate (2004)

Alone, Dead or Alive and Dead or Alive 2 are hailed as the best games in the franchise, so to receive a remake of both games in a single package was the best thing Dead or Alive fans could have asked for. Dead or Alive games are some of the toughest fighting games to master, but that's exactly what makes them so compelling.

Dead or Alive Ultimate was highly praised for taking the lessons of the past to truly make this game the best Dead or Alive experience for players. Just like with Dead or Alive 4, an online mode was added that helped make the game more playable and addicting.

Nioh (2017)

Nioh is an action RPG and one of the best souls-like games. The game feels like a blend of Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls. The game also feels a bit like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and likely helped influence that game in turn.

Nioh is a game that Team Ninja struggles to top, the action and atmosphere are unmatched and the core story is fun and interesting. The bosses the player encounters are horrifying and engaging with many of them coming straight out of Japanese mythology.

Ninja Gaiden Black (2005)

Ninja Gaiden Black is an enhanced version of Ninja Gaiden and is no doubt the best game that Team Ninja has made thus far. This game is an ideal title to play for any fan of the Nioh games and is the origin of Team Ninja's love for a fantasy-based Feudal Japan.

The game is incredibly challenging but has some of the best action ever in a game. Much like Nioh, there are various weapons that Ryu can use and many different abilities that can be unlocked to improve his overall skillset.
