House of the Dragon season's finale will premiere on HBO Max on October 23, 2022, concluding the tenth episode season that brought millions of viewers closer to the House Targaryen. According to Fire and Blood's author, George R.R Martin, the story of the Targaryens would need at least four seasons (Via Bustler), however, it is yet to be confirmed how many will be produced.

Although House of the Dragon is having success on its own, nobody can forget the series that started it all: Game of Thrones. The series' catastrophic finale earned the hatred of millions of fans, however, in spite of its awful wrap-up, it's undeniable that the first seasons are one of the best ones in the history of television. It is especially hard to forget Ned Stark, the loving father and righteous ruler whose good heart was his death sentence. A lot can be said about the King in the North, and memes can sum it all up.

Played By Sean Bean

Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones is not the prolific actor Sean Bean's only foray into fantasy. Long before GoT, he famously took on the troubled role of Boromir, in Tolkein's epic The Lord of the Rings.

One of Boromir's most famous quotes is "One does not simply walk into Mordor" which later on became a very popular meme. It would be hilarious to conceive of a crossover moment with Arya and Sansa Stark where they recall their dad saying that, even though Mordor does not exist in Westeros.

Winter Is Coming Catchphrase

Eddard was not the first one to come up with the motto of House Stark, however, he was the one that introduced it for the first time to the audiences. Soon after, memes of Stark saying the phrase that synthesized House Stark's greatest fear in all sorts of contexts spread throughout the internet.

It is unthinkable to sum up Ned without his iconic meme which, in this case, hilariously transports Stark into the future, where instead of hiding and surviving the merciless winter, people have to change tires and shovel the snow out of their front yard.

Ned Stark Was Really A Caring Uncle

Poor Catelyn Stark always believed that the love of his life cheated on her with another woman, which understandably, was heartbreaking for her. But she was not the only one who suffered because of the lie he was forced to tell. Ned ached too, seeing his beloved wife saddened because of his made-up affair.

It is unlikely that Ned would consider Catelyn's accusations and reprimands, as well as her hatred for Jon Snow (which made her a scarier mom than Cersei Lannister), as irrational as the meme suggests. Nonetheless, the meme accurately points out how great of an uncle he was for protecting Jon Snow at the cost of his reputation as a husband.

The Best Secret Keeper In Game Of Thrones

Ned could easily be considered one of the best secret keepers in the history of fiction, and it is highly unlikely that anyone could be as good as him. On a scale of 1 to Ned Stark, most fans of Game of Thrones would recognize that 99 percent of them do not deserve his name as a rating.

He did not only keep the secret that Jon Snow was actually named Aegon Targaryen and that he was the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, but he also made up a brilliant lie that would hurt his reputation and his wife's feelings. Nonetheless, he knew that his version of events would never be questioned and he would save Jon's life.

Named Jon Snow

He was named Aegon in honor of one of the most important Targaryens, but to hide his identity, Ned changed his name to Jon. The meme suggests a hilarious link between the tragic truth of Hodor's name and how Ned Stark came up with "Jon Snow".

Although it was never confirmed, it is likely that Ned named Jon after Jon Aryn as he named all of his sons after the men he loved the most. Stark had a huge heart, and naming his children after the men he admired is one of the many examples that prove it.

Jon Snow's Daddy

Rhaegar Targaryen was Jon Snow's father, however, his early death stopped him from being more than just a biological figure. Therefore, Ned Stark could perfectly say, as the meme depicts, that Rhaegar was his dad but that he was his daddy.

The original quote belongs to Yondu, one of the best characters from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He says it to his somewhat adoptive son, Star-Lord, when he sacrifices himself to save his boy's life. Yondu and Ned may be from other universes and have very different parenting styles, but they for sure love their adopted children.

Ned Stark Was The Ultimate Main Character

Eddard Stark was the main character of the first season of Game of Thrones, and since audiences are used to movies, series, and books where the protagonist always survives, it was a hugely shocking twist when he was killed at the end of season one.

There are plenty of protagonists that have evaded death, and Harry Potter is one of them. Despite Harry almost dying multiple times, there was always some plot armor that saved him. Unfortunately, that was not the case for poor Ned.

Beheaded

It is safe to say that Ned Stark's death was brutal. Not only did he die in a very humiliating way as a city's spectacle, but he was also betrayed and beheaded. As if that was not cruel enough, his head was put on a spike.

Regardless of the vicious murder by the Lannisters, many have found the funny side of it, as this meme proves. If Ned Stark would have been born in this world and decade, he would probably have had "Somebody I Used To Know" lyrics stuck in his head while he was executed.

His Character Arc

Many characters in the series had a compelling and fascinating arc throughout the first seasons of Game of Thrones. But one who never got to develop was of course Ned Stark.

As he was only alive during season one he thereafter appeared only in flashbacks to his younger self. In doing so,he was left untouched as the extraordinary character he was; and this meme reflects the constant presence he had over the rest of the show's narrative despite no longer being able to play a part in events.

One Of The Best Characters

As the meme points out, Ned was one of the most beloved and memorable characters in Game of Thrones. He was so great that no one got over his death and many seasons later fans were still talking about him.

Ned was honorable, loving, honest, and a great husband, father, friend, and ruler. His heart of gold placed them among the favorite of the series and to this day, many fans grieve his unexpected and horrifying passing.
