With a successful first season in the books, HBO has once again struck gold with its House of the Dragon series. Striking gold is something that the cast is very familiar with, and many of their biggest projects have grossed a veritable bounty at the box office.

From successful comic book franchises like The Amazing Spider-Manto nostalgia-based blockbusters like Ready Player One, the main cast of House of the Dragon has proven that they are legitimate box office draws. Though nearly every cast member has been in hit films, Box Office Mojo reports that some projects soared to new heights of ticket sales.

Ready Player One (2018) - $582,918,849

Olivia Cooke

Perfectly embodying the conflicted Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon, Olivia Cooke has had a hit on her hands in nearly every project she appears in. Ready Player One grossed over $500 million (via Box Office Mojo) and showed that Cooke was a legitimate star on the rise.

Though the plot was somewhat flimsy, the film made bankroll because it not only cashed in on one successful franchise but dozens of them at once. Appearing as Samantha Cook, Olivia Cooke did the best with what she had to work with and co-headlined the tent-pole movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) - $757,930,663

Rhys Ifans

Bringing one of the most financially successful resumes to the show, Rhys Ifans' turn as Otto Hightower showed all the dastardly plotting that made the Game of Thrones universe so enthralling. He has a history with villainous parts, and The Amazing Spider-Man raked in a ton of money with him near the top of the bill.

Fighting off Spider-Man as Dr. Curt Connors, Ifans showed that he was the perfect choice to play The Lizard, and he usually ranks towards the top of the Amazing Spider-Man movie villains. While the movie was far from the highest-grossing film to star the web-slinger, it did rake in over $700 million (via Box Office Mojo) worldwide.

Wonder Woman (2017) - $822,854,286

Emily Carey

Sharing a role with another actor is never easy, but young Emily Carey has made quite a name for herself playing younger versions of characters. Before she was young Alicent on House of the Dragon, Carey got a taste of box office gold when she appeared in the wildly popular Wonder Woman film.

Sharing the spotlight with Gal Gadot, Carey appeared as a younger version of Diana, and she excelled at maintaining consistency with her older co-star. Grossing $822 million (via Box Office Mojo), Wonder Woman was one of the highest-grossing DCEU movies, not only because of its stars but because its supporting actors helped to elevate it beyond a simple comic book movie.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug (2013) - $959,027,992

Graham McTavish

No stranger to massive sci-fi and fantasy franchises, it only seemed natural that Graham McTavish would find his way to House of the Dragon and turn heads as Ser Harrold Westerling. Starring McTavish, the middle film in The Hobbit trilogy was also its lowest-grossing, but it still managed to earn over $950 million (via Box Office Mojo).

Reprising his role as Dwalin, the Scottish actor was nearly unrecognizable under a load of heavy makeup. Despite that, he managed to give a strong performance that allowed his character to stand out in a sea of supporting characters. Desolation of Smaug is seen as a low point in the trilogy, but it was still packed with enough action and fantasy adventure to put a lot of butts in seats.

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies (2014) - $962,201,338

Graham McTavish

Franchise acting isn't always an easy task, and Graham McTavish has proven that he can deliver the consistency that made him perfect for House of the Dragon. Just barely out-grossing its predecessor at $962 million (via Box Office Mojo), The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was a thrilling enough conclusion to garner a slightly larger audience interest.

Proving to be one of the most likable main characters in The Hobbit, Dwalin had become a fully fleshed-out character by the finale and that was due in large part to McTavish's performance. While it was difficult for any character to truly stand out in the chaotic ending of the trilogy, it was the series' lovable ensemble that kept viewers coming back for more.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) - $977,070,383

Rhys Ifans

Though he wasn't a large part of the series, Rhys Ifans amazingly was able to get in on the Harry Potter franchise and appear in one of its highest-grossing outings. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was the beginning of the end of the series, and fans were lining up around the block to be a part of the experience.

Xenophilius Lovegood only appeared in one scene in the film, and Ifans made sure to make it one of the most memorable moments of what was an otherwise lackluster film. The entire franchise is celebrated for the brilliant performances of its ensemble cast, and though Ifans' name wasn't why the movie grossed $977 million (via Box Office Mojo), his performance stole the show.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) - $1,017,030,651

Graham McTavish

Fans had only been without new Lord of the Rings content for a decade when The Hobbit was released, but it was clear from the response that it was sorely missed. An Unexpected Journey kicked the trilogy off with a bang, and fans ate it up, spending $1 billion (via Box Office Mojo) at the box office.

Debuting in the franchise as Dwalin, McTavish made sure to have a strong first impression that left a mark on fans for years. Surrounded by a host of other Dwarves, Dwalin still felt like his own special character, and fans loved to see the classic novel brought to life on the big screen. While they all made a mint, the first film helped The Hobbit films become one of the highest-grossing trilogies of all time.

Aquaman (2018) - $1,148,528,393

Graham McTavish

Checking off another box on McTavish's impressive body of work, his sole appearance in a superhero movie also found a fountain of wealth at the box office. Finally giving DC's resident water-dweller his own blockbuster flick, Aquaman grossed well over $1.1 billion (via Box Office Mojo) worldwide despite middling reviews.

McTavish played a small but crucial role in the film as King Atlan, the former holder of the trident that Aquaman must retrieve to stop the war. McTavish was a great choice for the role because he has a knack for giving smaller parts a lot of character and living up to the "supporting" aspect of his supporting actor credits.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - $1,920,544,470

Rhys Ifans

Spider-Man has always been a consistent box office draw, and No Way Home found a way to boost Spidey's numbers even more. Concluding the Tom Holland trilogy on a high note, No Way Home hit the jackpot and grossed an absurd amount of money.

Bringing together all three generations of Spider-Man meant that villains could make their return as well. As such, Rhys Ifans was called upon to revive his role as The Lizard, and he could add a record-shattering $1.9 billion (via Box Office Mojo) movie to his resume.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) - $2,069,521,700

Jefferson Hall

Not sticking to just one role in House of the Dragon, actor Jefferson Hall got to flex his muscles as both Tyland and Jason Lannister. As was expected, the return of Star Wars in The Force Awakens was a surefire hit, and it grossed a record-setting $2.069 (via Box Office Mojo).

Though Jefferson Hall's role didn't really give him a chance to do a lot as an anonymous First Order officer, it is still a feather in the actor's cap that he landed a multi-billion dollar film. Aside from his great abilities, it is box office success like The Force Awakens that helps actors reach new stages in their careers.
