Electronic Arts excited fans with a new trailer for Need for Speed Unbound, which marks the 25th installment in the long-running popular video game series. As the video game is bound to show a new world of street racing, gamers will have to wait until December 2 to get their hands on it.

In the meantime, players, new and old, flock back to the popular 2015 reboot of Need for Speed to familiarize themselves with the highest-performing vehicles. It's worth getting a jump on which cars in the game reach the fastest speeds as well as handle and accelerate the most efficiently.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS - 236 mph

While some cars can reach faster top speeds in Need for Speed, when it comes to overall performance, it's very hard to beat the badass Porsche 911 GT3 RS. In addition to going 3 mph faster than the lightning-quick 911 Carrera '73 when fully upgraded, the GT3 combines top-line speed with excellent handling and awesome acceleration stats to blow the competition away.

The GT3 utilizes a 7-speed automatic, rear-engine layout that, when upgraded, can churn out as much as 1,107 Horsepower and 339 pounds/foot of torque to go 0-60 in 2.33 seconds. Aside from reaching 236 mph, the high-performance car handles effortlessly around hairpin turns while maintaining blistering speeds.

Toyota Supra - 236 mph

The 1996 Toyota Supra can also reach a blazing top speed of 236 mph (380 km/h) in the popular racing game, thanks to its lightweight frame and smaller 3.0L engine. The 5-speed manual transmission can crank out 217 hp and 210 pounds/foot of torque, which is great for time trials and racing on bridges and lengthy straightaways.

However, the Supra accelerates roughly half as fast as the Porsche 911 GT3, reaching 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. Still, for those looking to max out the speedometer, the '96 Supra is a sneaky good option in the somewhat underrated racing game.

Mercedes-AMG GT - 237 mph

While the Nissan GT-R Premium has arguably the better overall performance across the board, in terms of sheer speed, the Mercedes AMG GT goes 3 miles per hour faster to reach a top speed of 237 mph when fully upgraded. The pricey sports car ($85,600) uses a front-engine, RWD layout that, along with its mid-weight frame (3,560 lbs), gives the car tremendous balance.

Thanks to its powerful M178 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, 7-speed automatic transmission, upgraded 1,088 hp, and 443 foot-pounds of torque, the Mercedes-AMG GT will roast rivals off the starting line and hit 0-60 in 2.39 seconds flat.

Lamborghini Aventador - 237 mph

As one might expect from the luxury high-performance Italian brand, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700 is arguably the best and fastest car to use in Need for Speed. In addition to reaching a max speed of 237 mph, the car handles smoother than a Porsche and accelerates faster than nearly any other car found in the game.

Due to its hefty 6.5L V12 engine, mid-engine layout, all-wheel drivetrain, and 7-speed sequential transmission, the Aventador can go 0-60 in 2.8 seconds flat and reach 220 mph fresh out of the factory. When fully upgraded, the Aventador will channel 1,090 hp to go 0-60 in 1.93 seconds and complete a quarter-mile in 8.7 seconds.

Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 - 238 mph

While the Lamborghini Aventador has better overall performance specs and stats, it cannot go quite as fast as the 2014 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 in the best PlayStation racing game. The difference mainly lies in horsepower, with the SRT8 able to crank up to 1,592 hp when fully upgraded.

The Dodge Challenger also boasts a 6.4L V6 front-loaded engine, rear-wheel-drive, and 6-speed manual transmission that gives the car excellent handling abilities around sharp corners. Beyond reaching a top speed of 238 mph, the SRT8 can go 0-60 in 2.26 seconds and complete a quarter-mile in 9.2 seconds when completely upgraded.

Ford Mustang BOSS 302 - 238 mph

A high-performance variant of the 1969 Mustang Fastback, the Ford Mustang BOSS 302 is an absolute beast in Need for Speed. While it isn't all that impressive in stock form, when fully kitted out, the BOSS 302 demonstrates why it's earned its reputation to rival the top five fastest burners in the entire game.

Operating a 4.9L, V8 front-loaded engine and a 4-speed manual transmission, the Boss can produce up to 1,269 hp. When combined with its lightweight body frame (under 3,000 lbs), the BOSS 302 can reach a top speed of 238 mph and go 0-60 in 2.49 seconds. It may not handle as well as a Porsche or Lamborghini, but for a 1969 chassis, the BOSS 302 blazes!

Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 - 238 mph

The second Lamborghini to make the grade, the 2015 Huracan is one of the fastest cars in the excellent open-world racing game whether a player upgrades it or not. The high-performance sports car operates a 5.2L V10 mid-loaded engine and 7-speed auto-transmission that can go 0-60 in 3 seconds flat and eclipse 200 mph right off the factory line.

However, when upgraded, the Hurucan shows why it's such a supreme vehicle to tool around in during the game. Beyond reaching 238 mph, the Huracan can go 0-60 in 2.09 seconds, and complete a quarter-mile in 8.86 seconds, doing so with under 1,000 hp (982). As such, there's no wonder why the pricey sports car costs $178,500 in the game.

McLaren 570S - 241 mph

As most race drivers are aware, McLaren is one of the most prestigious automobile makers on the planet. It shows in Need For Speed, in which the 2015 McLaren 570S sports car marries fashion with function more efficiently than most high-performance luxury sports cars in the game. There's a reason it's priced at $190,000.

The McLaren 570S separates itself from the pack by operating a smaller 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine and lighter carbon fiber body frame (3,201 lbs), boasting one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in the game. As such, the McLaren can not only eclipse 240 mph at top speed, but it can also go 0-60 in 2.29 seconds and finish a quarter-mile in 9.26 seconds.

Ferrari F40 - 247 mph

The first official supercar to be included, the mighty 1987 Ferrari F40 is not only among the fastest cars to drive in Need for Speed, but its handling, acceleration, and braking acumen also make it one of the absolute best performers in nearly every conceivable category. As such, the supercar costs a staggering $198,000 to purchase.

With a super lightweight frame made of kevlar, carbon fiber, and aluminum (2,425 lbs), 2.9L twin-turbo V8 mid-loaded engine and a 6-speed manual transmission can churn out a massive amount of torque (927 foot/lbs) for its size. When fully upgraded, the Ferrari F40 can reach 247 mph and go 0-60 in 2.23 seconds.

SRT Dodge Viper GTS - 248 mph

Besting the Ferarri F40's top speed by a single mile per hour, the 2014 SRT Dodge Viper GTS is the fastest car to drive in the beloved racing video game. Thanks to the sports car's massive 8.4L V10 front-loaded engine to go with its lightweight frame (3,351 lbs), the car's basic factory specs allow it to go 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and reach a max speed of 202 mph.

When upgraded to its full potential, the SRT Viper GTS utilizes 1,203 hp to increase its max speed to reach up to 248 mph. Even quicker, the car can accelerate from 0-100 in just 2.09 seconds and complete a quarter-mile in 9 seconds flat. When looking for the absolute fastest car in Need for Speed, gamers can expect the greatest out of the Dodge Viper GTS!
