This Sunday, March 4, is the 90th Academy Awards. It's the biggest night of the Hollywood calendar, seeing some of the best movies from the past year vying for a golden baldie. But how exactly can you watch the 2018 Oscars live? We're here to help.
2018's Oscar ceremony is actually happening a week later than normal - the first weekend of March rather than the last of February - due to the Winter Olympics, which has led to a longer-fought awards campaign by the big films. This is one of the most open Best Picture races in years, with any of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Shape of Water, Get Out and Dunkirk feeling like they have a strong chance. Add to this the excitement following last year's La La Land/Moonlight mixup, and you're going to want to watch this all unfold live.

For the 2018 Oscars, the red carpet starts 6:30 pm EST/3:30 pm PST, with the ceremony - hosted again by Jimmy Kimmel - starting at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST and running through to around 12 pm EST/9 pm PST. As one of the major live TV events, there's plenty of ways to watch it no matter where you are in the world.
In the US: ABC has the airing rights to the Oscars and will be broadcasting the whole event live on Sunday evening, which will also be available on ABC Go and the ABC app. Cord cutters needn't worry as the feed will also be available on all major streaming services:
- Sling - Sling TV offers several packages that will cover the Oscars for a monthly subscription, and also offer a seven-day free trial.
- YouTube TV - YouTube's TV service costs $40 a month from the start of March. They also offer a seven-day free trial.
- DirecTV - DirecTV offers several packages. New users can sign up with the promo code “AWARDSNOW” to get a free month on any package, with $35 a month after
- PlayStation Vue - You don't need a Playstation to use Sony's video service, which can be viewed on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Google Chromecast, a standard web browser, or the official Android or iOS app. The $39.99/month “Access” plan will get you the Oscars, and there's also a five-day free trial.
It will also be available on demand afterward by both ABC and Hulu.
In Canada: CTV will be airing the Oscars in Canada, with the red carpet and ceremony also available on CTV.ca and the CTV GO app.
In the UK: Sky has the broadcast rights for the Oscars in the UK. Red carpet and punditry discussion stars at 11 pm GMT Sunday ahead of the ceremony beginning at 1 am Monday morning. This will air on Sky's exclusive Oscar channel for Sky Cinema subscribers. If you don't have Sky, NowTV also provides access to the live broadcast as part of its movie package. It costs £9.99 a month, but has a free trial for those who've not used the service before. However, do note that to watch live in the UK you will also need a valid TV license.

For those not able to watch the ceremony live, there are catch-up options provided by each of the broadcasters, and the Academy uploads the award giving to their YouTube channel.
