Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet's release has brought with it some fascinating new Pokémon. The new unique forms and legendaries include some of the strongest entries in the history of the franchise.

However, some of the best Pokémon in the games are available to catch directly in the wild or can be evolved from Pokémon caught in the wild. Players can make a team to beat the game without having to rely on legendaries or special encounters. Simply using monsters from their travels in the Overworld environment can even create a team strong enough to use in competitive battles.

If you want to see the rest of the Pokémon after the top 10, there is also a complete tier list of all Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet.

10 ToedscruelToedscruel in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Toedscruel is one of the new convergent species in Scarlet & Violet, being related to Tentacruel. The Toadstool-inspired Ground/Grass type is a fast yet specially defensive tank similar to its predecessor.

Toedscruel can be obtained by leveling up Toedscool to level 30. Toedscool can be caught in many of the eastern and southern provinces and is often seen by tree roots. Toedscruel isn't quite as useful as its predecessor in Tentacruel, but it can fill a variety of roles on teams. It has access to powerful moves like Leaf Storm as well as great utility moves like Toxic Spikes and Knock Off, making use of its balanced stats.

9 PawmotPawmot family in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The final evolution of the adorable Pawmi, Pawmot is an Electric/Fighting type who evolves from Pawmo after walking 1000 steps in the Overworld feature together.

Pawmot has access to a move that is sure to influence competitive battling in Scarlet & Violet: Revival Blessing, which allows Pawmi to revive a fallen ally. Revival Blessing isn't Pawmot's only gimmick, as it has access to the ability Iron Fist and every elemental punch, along with a decent attack stat. This allows it to hit hard and revive its allies all at the same time. It helps that Pawmi is available to be caught on the path to the academy as well.

8 Armorogue/CeruledgePokemon Scarlet And Violet's Armarouge And Ceruledge

Depending on which version the player chose, the adorable Charcadet will evolve into a different Megaman-inspired evolution by gathering either Bronzor or Sinistea (depending on Scarlet or Violet, respectively) fragments and presenting them to a mysterious person in Zapapico.

Ceruledge and Armorouge both fulfill the role of a medium-speed attacker with incredible damage. The main difference in the two is that Armarogue is a special attacker, while Ceruledge is a physical attacker. The two both rely on powerful Fire moves, with Amarogue sporting a Psychic secondary typing and Ceruledge featuring a Ghost secondary typing.

7 KillowattrelKilowattrel in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Kilowattrel is an Electric/Flying type that evolves from Wattrel at level 25. Wattrel can be caught by various coastlines, so players should go to the edge of the map if they're looking to hunt for Wattrels.

Some may find Kilowattrel just being a bigger Wattrel to be another example of disappointing Pokémon evolutions, but Wattrel was already a great design in the first place. Kilowattrel's aesthetic is eclipsed only by its usefulness, as the Pokémon boasts an incredible 125 Speed to go with a respectable 105 Special Attack. Volt Absorb combined with its great defensive typing makes it difficult to take down as well, meaning Kilowattrel is a threat on every level.

6 GarganaclGarganacl in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Garganacl joins Golem, Gigalith, and many others as the obligatory slow three-stage Rock-type of the generation. It evolves from Naclstack at level 38, with the original form Nacli appearing by the Stony Cliff Titan challenge.

Garganacl comes with a Rock-type signature move named Salt Cure that does extra damage to Steel and Water-types. Its ability, Purifying Salt, gives it a Ghost resistance and makes it immune to status conditions. This means that Garganacl, along with fantastic stats, loses many of the offensive and defensive weaknesses of the Rock typing. It may be a strange-looking Pokémon, but it's one of the best Rock types of all time.

5 AnnihilapeAnnihilape in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The Ghost/Fighting Annihilape is a new evolution of a generation 1 classic in Primeape. Annihilape evolves from Primeape after the player has used the move Rage Fist 20 times. Mankey, the first evolution, can be found in grassy areas of area five of the south province.

Offensively, Annihilape has a very complimentary typing in Ghost/Fighting that can cover many bases and break multiple defensive typing that check the other. It gains a huge improvement over Primeape, not just offensively, but in vastly increased bulk as well. Annihilape can take hits and dish them out, and it is the type of Pokémon that seems perfect to abuse the Choice Scarf item to its fullest.

4 Cetitan

Cetitan evolves from Cetoddle via Ice Stone, and neither Ice Stones nor Cetoddle are particularly hard to find. Cetoddle is an easy catch around Glaseado Mountain in particular, and the result is one of the best Ice types of all time.

Cetitan's power is partially due to a change in game mechanics. Gen 9 has done away with hail and replaced it with the infinitely more powerful snow weather type. In snow, an Ice Pokémon's defense is increased by 50%. Cetitan's normally mediocre 65 Defense goes way up in snow, and paired with a startling 170 HP, Cetitan becomes a very difficult-to-kill physical sweeper. With the ability Slush Rush behind it as well, Cetitan excels in almost every single stat while in snow.

3 Baxcalibur

Pseudo-legendary Pokémon are an important tradition in every generation, and it all begins with the weirdly adorable Frigibax. Frigibax can be found as a rare encounter in Glaseado Mountain, and evolves into Arctibax at level 35. Arctibax evolves into Baxcalibur at level 54. A late level, which is to be expected of a pseudo-legendary.

Baxcalibur boasts a terrifying 145 Attack stat, which is the main draw to the Pokémon. Its bulk in both Defense and Special Defense ensures it will stay around for a while, and its massive Attack stat is protected by its ability Thermal Body, which prevents it from being burned. Baxcalibur is the type of reliable powerhouse that fans have come to expect from pseudo-legendaries.

2 Kingambit

Kingambit is a Steel/Dark-type that has one of the most complex evolution methods of all time: players must defeat 3 Bisharp with their own Bisharp, all while holding the Leader's Crest Item. It's the final evolution of Pawniard, who can be found most commonly in south province area five.

Kingambit increases Bisharp's bulk substantially while lowering its Speed stat to a meager 50. However, what truly makes Kingambit shine is a very powerful offensive ability in Supreme Overlord. Supreme Overlord gives Kingambit a power boost depending on how many of its allies have fainted, which, combined with its priority Sucker Punch, can completely sweep opposing teams as the last Pokémon remaining.

1 Palafin

Palafin is an unassuming pick for one of the best Water-types ever released. Its pre-evolution Finizen has meager stats and can be found all across Paldea's waters, and Finizen evolves into Palafin at a modest level of 38 while playing in co-op.

However, unassuming as it may be, Palafin's "hero form" makes for one of the strongest non-Legendary Pokémon of all time. After switching out once, Palafin's base stat total shoots up to 650, a number that competes with game-breaking Pokémon like Miraidon and Kyogre. Its most impressive stat is a gargantuan 160 base Attack, combined with an impressive set of offensive moves to choose from. After getting one Flip Turn off and going into Hero Form, Palafin can completely rip through even the most expertly crafted competitive teams with raw power alone.
