The new Star Wars series Andor is filled with a number of plot twists, moments in which both the characters and the viewer are forced to rethink what they’ve just seen. Of course, such narrative twists and turns are nothing new for this particular universe, which has often used plot twists to keep viewers engaged, whether it’s the revelation that Palpatine was Darth Sidious or that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father.

However, there are also a number of lesser-known plot twists scattered throughout the franchise. Whether in movies or TV, fans have largely forgotten about these particular turns of fortune.

Lando Once Owned The Millennium Falcon

The Millennium Falcon is, of course, one of the best ships in Star Wars. It is also firmly associated with Han Solo to such an extent that it seems a very part of his identity.

It is really quite surprising, then, to learn in a plot twist that it once belonged to none other than Lando Calrissian. This was revealed in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and it was quite a revelation. However, it’s a plot twist that hasn’t become much talked-about in the fan community, perhaps because the film itself was something of a failure, earning over $329 million at the Box Office (via Box Office Mojo)

The Padme Double Subplot

Arguably, Padme is one of the best Star Wars characters. She is a formidable fighter and, as she repeatedly demonstrates, someone with a great deal of political savvy, as she shows when she reveals that the person the viewer has believed was the queen is, in reality, a decoy.

Given the extent to which her own destiny would become intertwined with that of Anakin, it’s easy to see why this particular plot twist would have been largely forgotten by many in the community. What’s more, this particular plot twist doesn’t seem to have a great deal of relevance to the larger scope of the story, so it makes sense why it would be largely forgotten.

The Second Death Star Is Operational in Return of the Jedi

The Death Star is, of course, a truly titanic weapon, and one of the most fearsome entities in Star Wars. While the destruction of the first one is one of the most important events in the saga, what goes largely forgotten is the twist that the second one is actually operational, something that comes as quite the shock to the Rebels.

It’s a plot twist that shows just how subtle the Empire can be when the time calls for it. However, this particular revelation rather recedes into the background, since so much of the rest of the movie is occupied with Luke’s confrontation with his father and the Emperor.

Third Sister Being One of The Younglings

Though it might not have achieved the heights of popularity of The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi is still a strong show, and of particular note is its character of Third Sister. A ruthless member of the Inquisitors, the twist, of course, is that she was actually one of the Younglings who managed to survive the assault known as Order 66.

This is quite a revelation, but it seems to have not landed with a particular force on the fandom. Unfortunately, she seems to have been largely overshadowed by many of the other important events on the series, particularly the long-awaited duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Unveiling of the Dark Troopers

The Mandalorian has established itself as one of the best Star Wars TV shows, and indeed one of the best series on Disney+. In part, this is because it has kept viewers guessing about just what directions it is going to go - of particular note was the revelation of the Dark Troopers.

This was quite a moment in the series, but it seems to have receded somewhat into the background of the Star Wars universe. Most likely, this is because they were destroyed by Luke Skywalker, making them seem quite superfluous to Din Djarin’s larger story.

Cassian Andor Working On A Piece Of The Death Star

Cassian Andor is one of the most noted Star Wars members of the Rebellion. Thus, it was inevitable that he would get his own spinoff and, among other things, the series that bears his name shows him in a prison, working on some unknown piece of machinery.

It turns out, in a post-credits sequence, that this is in fact a crucial component to the Death Star. This plot twist, it must be said, has been somewhat eclipsed by the various other plot twists and titanic events that take place during the course of the series.

Grogu Having Experienced Order 66

Grogu is one of the best things about the extended Star Wars universe as he cast an undeniable spell on fans from the moment he appeared. As it turned out, however, there was a great deal of trauma beneath that cute exterior, and he was, in fact, revealed to have survived nothing less than Order 66, which saw the obliteration of most of the Jedi.

This was truly stunning and heartbreaking to think of this tiny creature enduring such torment. The excitement of the concluding chapters to the second season of The Mandalorian, to say nothing of the events of The Book of Boba Fett, largely pushed this particular plot twist aside, though it’s always possible it might re-emerge in the future.

Bo-Katan Not Taking The Darksaber

Bo-Katan is one of the more notable of the many characters to appear in The Mandalorian. Though somewhat tangential to the main story, there is a notable moment in which she refuses to take the Darksaber from Din Djarin, even though it has been the object of her desire for quite some time.

It’s a notable moment, but it’s a plot twist that, overall, doesn’t seem to have much impact on the larger story of The Mandalorian. However, given that Bo-Katan has been such a formidable part of the larger Star Wars mythos, it can be hoped that it will get further elaboration in the future.

Boba Fett Rescuing Fennec Shand

Throughout her time on both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Fennec Shand has shown herself to be one of the saga’s best fighters in Star Wars. However, this doesn’t mean that she is invulnerable. In fact, she almost loses her life.

However, as it turns out, there’s a twist, and she is actually saved by none other than Boba Fett (as revealed in Book). This was a key plot twist, but it’s not one that has received a great deal of attention from the fans, most likely because it was obscured by some of the other high-profile events that occurred during The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Mok Shaiz Being In League With The Pykes

During The Book of Boba Fett, it’s revealed that Mok Shaiz, the mayor of Mos Espa, was in fact in league with the Pyke Syndicate. It was quite a plot twist, as it revealed him to be more cunning than his initially inept and somewhat cowardly demeanor would have suggested.

Unfortunately, the twist was largely overshadowed by some of the other events which overtook the series, most notably the conflict between Boba and the Pykes. When, at last, he was killed by Fennec, it’s easy to see why such a further twist would go largely unremarked-upon, given that he proved to be such an ineffective (and somewhat forgettable) character.
