After the reveal at Evo 2022 and the information following the closed beta that concluded earlier this month, Street Fighter VI has gaming fans giddy with anticipation. Already announcing such nostalgia-inducing favorites as Blanka, E. Honda, and Juri, Capcom and Street Fighter appear poised to ascend once more.

With thefranchise's revival imminent, many engaged fans will notice distinct parallels between the series' fighters and the zodiac guides of the stars. Each cosmic avatar imbues its divine essence into chosen warriors, eruditely selected due to their intrinsic synergies with the zodiac signs.

Aries-Akuma

Bearing the mark of Aries as the fiery, first zodiac sign's extension in the Street Fighter lore, is the younger brother of Gouken, Akuma. Burning with a fixated desire to learn the 'Satsui no Hado' or Surge of Murderous Intent, itself a technique that invokes visions of blazing quickness, combined with the ram's decisive, action-oriented energies makes Akuma one of the most feared fighters of the franchise.

Certainly, Akuma has proved himself a fighter that acts at the moment, without fear or hesitation, and always to satiate his aspirations. More often than not, Akuma seeks physical combat as his primary choice for feeding his desires. Here, as Aries fans the flames of conflagration in Akuma, it becomes only a matter of time before the Raging Demon tramples another enemy foolish enough to impede his pursuits.

Taurus-Guile

The uber-rooted combination of fixed earth yields this patient, reliable special forces fighter and iconic street fighter. Steady, physically and mentally, and exuding Taurus' love of the physical joys of life, Guile enjoys a lengthy career getting his hands dirty.

The hardheadedness of the bull empowers Guile's determination to witness Shadaloo's downfall, bringing him into conflict with his superiors. Unfortunately, these conflicts lead to complications that instantly draw the ire of the Bos, like Guile.

Gemini-Ken

As the Adapter of the zodiac, the Twins combine witty humor and a versatile intellect, producing a desirable package, as Eliza Masters can attest. Here Gemini's duality resonates within Ken Masters, the deuteragonist of the Street Fighter franchise and Ryu's best friend. Balancing his family life with his fighter commitments illustrates the increasingly competing halves of this beloved character.

Despite exhibiting Castor and Pollux's chatty, curious ways, Ken is hampered by indecisiveness, flopping between his competition and family lives. Yet, even as Ken is dueling M. Bison, he risks his mind being hampered by the nervous overthinking regarding his family's safety that can plague even the most focused Gemini.

Cancer-Sakura

Allies and friends create a sense of peace within the cosmos' fighting crustacean, Sakura. Hard-working at school and training, Sakura energizes her supporters and always tones down the sterner intensity of other fighters with her positive, upbeat astral energy.

However, Sakura's admiration of Ryu, combined with the powerful emotions of Cancer, would lead to her developing romantic feelings for her would-be master, a situation sometimes seen in the choppy emotions of the crab. Luckily, it seems Sakura's conservative nature and maturation have averted that potential swell, undoubtedly drawing from Cancer's tenacious spirit.

Leo-Bison

Displaying the hallmark Panthera desire for respect and penchant for leadership, the robust Shadaloo dictator M. Bison has served as the primary antagonist throughout the majority of the Street Fighter franchise. As the Leonic avatar of Street Fighter, Bison demonstrates his longing for recognition, dealing harshly with any that fail to acknowledge his superiority.

Sadly, Bison's passion and pride quickly devolve into a self-centered arrogance when melded with his psycho power and lust for world domination, proving that even the mightiest despotic overlord must guard against the machinations of the lion.

Virgo-Cammy

Marking the halfway point of the zodiac, Virgo discovers its representative in the former Doll turned MI6 operative, Cammy. Code-named 'Killer Bee,' Cammy proves herself reliable, as an ally to Guile, with a penchant for hard work and a love of animals, like the various stray cats she offers shelter.

Additionally, Cammy displays the virgin's unwavering loyalty to those closest to her, like her Doll sister Decapre. This loyalty and Cammy's unrelenting work ethic will lead to a seemingly never ending battle against the diabolical organizations of Street Fighter. Sadly, this battle leaves Cammy little time for much-needed R and R, a contention shared by many Virgos.

Libra-Dhalsim

The seventh sign of the zodiac, the balancer Libra, seeks balance in the pursuit of harmony, goals shared by the street fighter Dhalsim. In harmonizing his inner parts to achieve peace of mind, Dhalsim rarely sees the world in black and white. This perspective helps facilitate Dhalsim's Libran passions for a complete philosophy, tempering justice with mercy and compassion.

Always seeking a comprehensive understanding of the situation as the balancer, Dhalsim proves a shrewd negotiator and a dependable companion to other fighters, like the hermit warrior Oro. However, when justice must be served, Dhalsim has shown little reservation in using his esoteric yoga to dole out fiery justice to evil-doers.

Scorpio-Vega

The Shadaloo General Vega personifies Scorpio, even equipped with his signature stinger claw. Vega shows himself possessing the resourcefulness of the zodiac's predatory arachnid in his dedicated service to Bison for decades. Forever teeming with scorpionic energy, the Matador shows no reservations in going for the jugular when trifled with, as evidenced by the numerous sliced-and-diced fighters left in his wake.

Finally, Vega possesses an intimate understanding, gifted by Scorpio, of the emotions powering art, allowing him to appreciate its beauty and seek out the mysteries beneath wholly. This understanding, combined with his violent tendencies and one of the best stages of all time, further substantiates Scorpio's choice of Vega as its Street Fighter incarnation.

Sagittarius-Zangief

The humorous zodiac Sagittarius bestowed its love of the outdoors and idealistic spirit on the wrestling powerhouse, Zangief. A formidable driven fighter, the 'Red Tornado' has a strict code of honor and is not one to follow the lead or take orders from others, hallmark markers of Orion.

However, the Archer is undoubtedly the least self-interested fire sign, reflected in Zangief's willingness to fight for the adoration of school children and his beloved homeland. Lastly, drawing on his Sagittarian tendency towards journeying, Zangief travels far and wide, seeking to test his top-notch spinning piledriver skills against any that would speak ill of the squared circle.

Capricorn-Sagat

Channeling the energies of the Goat, Sagat relishes in the comforting traditions of his homeland, the birthplace of the deadly martial art Muay Thai. Street Fighter's 'Emperor of Muay Thai' shows Capri-inspired discipline maintaining his rigorous training regimen and, through his steely reserve, tactically hiding the hardened warrior within.

But, of course, Sagat's remarkable self-control can be traced back to his celestial sponsor, as Capricorn spurns Sagat to seek grandeur and recognition, like when he constantly travels the world, proving his title and discipline the best against the fiercest competition.

Aquarius-Chun-Li

As the Water Bearer, Chun-Li strongly believes in protecting innocents and the rights of people to be themselves instead of mindlessly conforming to the authority of Shadaloo or the flawed System. Becoming an Interpol detective and distinguished martial artist, Chun-Li relentlessly seeks the one responsible for her father's death, M. Bison.

First appearing in one of the best Sega Genesis games, Street Fighter II, Chun-Li is uncompromising regarding her principles.

Yet, Chun-Li shows herself unable to resist her Aquarian nature, exhibiting her temperamental side when she connects the dots, only to be brushed off by her superiors. Yet, despite this penchant, the Aquarian-infused Chun-Li doesn't hesitate to help friends, especially those in precarious positions.

Pisces-Ryu

Pisces demonstrates its lauded wisdom in selecting Ryu, the prime protagonist of the Street Fighter series and one of the most identifiable video game characters, as its avatar. Profiling as Pisces champion, Ryu trains to remove pain and restore hope to his soul and the universe. Through martial arts, Ryu fights to reveal the mystical state of Unity that offers salvation to the starry fishes.

Ever the compassionate Pisces, Ryu has a profound respect for life and believes everyone has the capacity for good. But, sadly, Ryu can suffer from self-doubt and the piscatory trait of believing everyone capable of salvation even when they don't deserve it, notably the villainous Bison and the 'great devil' Akuma.
