The Winchesters has nearly matched the level of seriousness associated with the Supernatural series. However, the show has yet to match the humor seen throughout the original series.

While the series is full of serious situations that make the plot sobering, there are also moments when fans can just have a few laughs while watching. There are many episodes in which the characters say or do something that makes viewers laugh. However, these episodes are the comedic relief of the series, taking away the seriousness often associated with the storyline and instead mainly making fans laugh from beginning to end.

"Ghostfacers"

Season 3, Episode 13

While "Ghostfacers" isn't the best episode of Supernatural season three, it is one of the first episodes in which the plot is mainly funny. In this episode, Sam and Dean run into the Ghostfacers for a second time when they're investigating deaths at a haunted mansion.

This episode is told from the perspective of the Ghostfacers themselves, with Sam and Dean starring as "side characters". What is the most comical about this take on Sam and Dean is that it's told from the absurd perspective of these fake ghost hunters that are attempting to make a reality show in the most ridiculously over-the-top way.

"It's A Terrible Life"

Season 4, Episode 17

This is another episode in which Sam and Dean are seen from a different perspective. This follows the brothers as if they never started hunting and live normal, separate lives. They later find out that this is an illusion created by the angel Zachariah.

There is an underlying sadness in this episode because, in this version of their lives, the brothers aren't close, but their mother is still alive. However, it's mostly humorous to see the two living such ordinary lives as it's so outlandish for fans that know them well as serious, quirky hunters.

"The Curious Case Of Dean Winchester"

Season 5, Episode 7

In this episode, when Bobby starts losing a gambling match run by a witch in which the currency is years of life, Dean steps in to save the day. However, this transforms the young Dean into an older version who proves to be a humorous comparison to the regular character.

This is one of the best Supernatural filler episodes. Fans find it hilarious how Dean as an old man interacts with Bobby, as well as how Dean acts with the ailments of an older person. This funny interlude during the normal plot within the season adds some comedy to the usual seriousness.

"A Very Supernatural Christmas"

Season 3, Episode 8

During this case, Sam and Dean investigate a supposed killer Santa. This leads them to some old pagan gods that are angry about not getting any sacrifices in the modern era and have taken it upon themselves to force humans into being their next feeding.

Though Sam and Dean once again end up in danger, there's no urgency to this episode and the viewers know the brothers will likely come out okay. This allows fans to enjoy the humorous banter between them and the pagans. A killer god that doesn't like swear words and the brothers turning a Christmas tree into a deadly weapon makes the holiday special a truly memorable episode.

"Time For A Wedding!"

Season 7, Episode 8

In this episode, Sam and Dean's superfan Becky comes back. Except this time Becky uses witchcraft to trick Sam into thinking he's in love with her. Dean tries to understand his brother's sudden marriage as Becky wildly tries to keep Sam under her spell.

This episode is another that has little urgency, with the fans expecting the brothers to figure a way out of Becky's trap. Since Becky isn't a true villain, but just a desperately lonely person, this episode is mainly a comical relief that has a good dose of ridiculousness to keep viewers laughing.

"Party On, Garth"

Season 7, Episode 18

Among the many serious characters in this series, Garth is one character fans are allowed to not take too seriously. In this episode featuring Garth, he calls the Winchesters for help with a ghost case in which someone can only see the entity when they're drunk.

This is not only comical in the way Garth handles cases in an outlandish and quirky way but the nature of the case. Watching the brothers have to get drunk to fight a ghost is a unique way of making the entire fight sequence entirely laughable.

"Tall Tales"

Season 2, Episode 15

While there are a lot of great Dean episodes and Sam episodes that highlight their individual characters, this one succeeds in demonstrating the relationship between the two. Both of the brothers tell Bobby a story of how they got into the situation they're in, exaggerating the way the other acted.

This episode is appropriately hilarious since the culprit of this case is a trickster. However, the absurd case they investigate is only background humor to the hilarious way the brothers talk about one another, highlighting their funny brotherly quarrels.

"Mystery Spot"

Season 3, Episode 11

In this episode, the Trickster has trapped the brothers in a time loop. Sam is left reliving the same day hundreds of times and each day Dean dies in a different way, driving Sam crazy as he struggles to figure out how to escape the loop.

This is one of the best episodes of Supernatural and one of the most humorous. Despite the fact that Dean dies repeatedly and Sam becomes distressed, the ways in which Dean dies become increasingly ridiculous, such as him falling in the shower or eating a bad taco.

"Bad Day At Black Rock"

Season 3, Episode 3

Sam and Dean investigate someone breaking into their father's old storage unit when they discover the stolen object was an enchanted rabbit's foot. The foot gives the holder exceptional luck but losing it has dire consequences.

When Sam loses the rabbit's foot, he loses his shoe, gets spotted by a radical that thinks it's his mission to kill him, and sets himself on fire when their motel room air conditioner suddenly short circuits. This hilarious series of events get more ridiculous as time goes on, outlining the episode with a sequence of laughable moments.

"Yellow Fever"

Season 4, Episode 6

There's nothing more humorous in this series than when the characters go through something that shatters their usual serious demeanor. When Dean catches a disease that makes him fearful of everything, they must race to find a cure before it kills him.

Despite the seriousness of having to find a cure, this episode is full of laughs. Fans find the scene in which Dean screams after being spooked by a cat one of the most hilarious moments in the entire show. Seeing this normally fearless character get freaked out over everything makes this episode the pinnacle of comedic relief.
