The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt received its free next-gen update on December 13th. Players can either purchase the Witcher 3 for the first time with this update included, or if they own a next-gen console and the Witcher 3, then they can update their game for free.

There are many amazing new additions to this already spectacular video game. However, hidden throughout the game are several small details and easter eggs that can be easy to miss for those who aren't searching for them.

Netflix Outfit Changes

In the options and gameplay setting, it's possible to toggle on and off two specific outfits from the Netflix series. The first is Dandelion, which changes his appearance to look like Jaskier. Not only does it give him Jaskier's Netflix clothes, but it also removes Dandelion's hat and facial hair.

The other change that players can toggle is the Nilfgaardian armor that appears in season 1. Most fans believe this was put in as a joke considering how hated the armor is by the fandom and how they changed the armor of the Nilfgaardians in season 2.

Henry Cavill's Dog, Kal

Henry Cavill played Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's Witcher series for seasons 1 and 2 and will play the character once more in season 3 before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role in season 4. As a celebrity with a surprisingly nerdy side, Cavill has a friendly companion named Kal, named after Kal-el aka Superman.

Kal is an American Akita and makes an appearance in the Witcher 3 next-gen update. He can be found at the Devil's Pit after finishing the new Netflix questline titled "In the Eternal Fire's Shadow."

Geralt Can Now Pet Roach

While Geralt has had many horses named Roach, the one in the Witcher 3 sticks with Geralt throughout the whole game. Although depending on choices made toward the end of Witcher 3, Geralt will end up with a different horse.

The Witcher 3 next-gen update allows Geralt to actually pet Roach before setting off and continuing their journey. To perform this action, simply hold down on the button typically used to jump and Geralt will automatically begin petting her.

Cyberpunk 2077 Symbol

There is an odd mystery in Cyberpunk 2077 that contains letters and numbers spread throughout the Night City. The meaning behind it is still unknown. A symbol aligning with this mystery has made it into the Witcher 3 as well, as it blends in with the ouroboros (snake biting its tail) symbol that the Lodge of Sorcerors uses as their emblem.

Surrounding the snake are multiple numbers and letters that fans believe further to fit into the mystery Cyberpunk 2077 mystery. It doesn't seem like an accident, but no fans have been able to decipher its meaning just yet.

The Rabbit Of Caerbannog From Monty Python

To discover this easter egg, embarking on the "Truth is in the Stars" quest is the best idea as it will lead to the cave where the rabbit is. The Rabbit of Caerbannog is a terrifying maneating rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Its inclusion in The Wicher 3 next-gen update is a contender for the best video game easter eggs.

This rabbit makes an appearance outside a cave and will be surrounded by several corpses he has killed. The rabbit is genuinely terrifying and will kill Geralt if the player isn't careful. Try as they might, no matter what attack they throw at the rabbit will prove ineffective, so the only strategy is to flee.

New Map Filters

One of the best improvements in the Witcher 3 next-gen update added to the next-gen update can easily be missed for players used to how the game was before. However, players can now add filters to the map and show what specific markers they wish to see.

The map is usually jumbled with every single marker there is, and it can be a mess to try and find the right one. However, if players wish to seek out specific quests or merchants then the filter can easily help them find what they desire.

The Netflix Questline: In The Eternal Fire's Shadow

There happens to be a whole questline based on the Netflix television series titled "In the Eternal Fire's Shadow" that has multiple references to the show within it. To find this quest players must first go to the Devil's Pit located in Velen.

Through this quest, Geralt will go through several objectives including a tough boss called Red Miasmal. At the end of the quest, Geralt will be gifted with the armor that Henry Cavill wears in the Netflix series called the Forgotten Wolf School Gear.

New Online Rewards

Players are able to get some exciting new items by signing in to My Rewards and claiming them. These items include a new pair of swords called the Swords of the Nine-Tailed Vixen, a brand-new silver and steel sword.

As well as two new armor sets, in honor of the new Chinese and Korean voice-overs, called White Tiger of the West Armor and Dol Blathanna Armor. The last reward is a new card for the in-game Gwent card game, Roach.

Quick Sign Casting

A hidden detail in the game and one of the best improvements in the Witcher 3 next-gen update is the quick sign casting method. Usually, players have to open up the dial menu that pops up the various signs and choose them from there.

However, now players can go into the options menu and click on gameplay to toggle this new setting. When casting a sign there will be multiple buttons to choose from for each sign. This is a perfect way to utilize more than one sign in quick succession and will make battles far easier.

Slow Walking

A new hidden feature added to the Witcher 3 is the option to move Geralt to a slower pace. To do this, players need only gently move the left analog stick.

This is a nice change to Geralt's movements so that he isn't constantly jogging or running all the time. It's the perfect feature for moving indoors and heading through entrances and exits. Out in the wild open, players will still want to stick to either running or riding horseback on Roach.
