October 2022 brought the finale of House Of The Dragon to fans and many couldn't help but compare the first season of the series to the early heyday of its predecessor, Game Of Thrones. Both shows were celebrated, early on, for their tight-knit plots with few flaws. However, things slowly and infamously began to unravel for the original Westeros tale in the later seasons.

But not every show falls victim to the same issues. Fans took to Reddit to discuss the shows that didn't have such failings. These series lacked any real plot holes and have near-perfect story arcs that tie up all the loose ends by the end.

Game Of Thrones (The First Few Seasons) (2011 - 2019)

In many ways, the early Game Of Thrones seasons were the antitheses to the later seasons. In fact, the show's first through fourth seasons are often heralded as among the best in television.

The original poster of the Reddit thread was the one to include Game Of Thrones in the discussion. However, they were also insistent on only including "the first four seasons." It feels a bit disingenuous to separate a show in half in a discussion about plot holes - which are usually built from multi-season plot points. However, it's undeniable that George R.R. Martin's work is nearly infallible.

Dexter (2006 - 2013)

Another Reddit user was insistent on including the infamous killer-focused series, Dexter. However, many other users didn't necessarily agree.

One Reddit user went as far as to say, "As somebody who watched all of Dexter, enjoyed Dexter and looks forward to the reboot of Dexter: No." Other fans of the show were quick to point out the lack of realism in many different moments of the popular series, but unrealistic interactions between people aren't necessarily "plot holes."

True Detective (2014 - 2019)

One of the most critically acclaimed crime series and one of the best overall crime stories on HBO Max, True Detective is widely regarded as having one of the best first seasons on television.

Redditor bumblebee1977 mentioned that "Season 1 of True Detective was some of the best tv ever." It's true that the series has a well-designed plot that doesn't leave many loose ends. Sadly, season 2 is considered by many to be a letdown to the rest of the series.

Dark (2017 - 2020)

Dark is among the best international shows on Netflix. The German series follows the residents of the town of Winden and the mysterious disappearance of a local child.

One Reddit user mentioned that it has an "upward trend line" for IMDb ratings, meaning the show presumably keeps getting better and better for the average viewers. It's nice to see a Redditor bring some sources to back up their arguments, and it's hard to disagree that fans would be hard-pressed to find any obvious holes in the show's plot.

Black Sails (2014 - 2017)

The Treasure Island prequel, Black Sails, is one of the best pirate dramas out there. Throughout four seasons, the series delivered a solid, entertaining storyline.

Redditor iangeredcharlesvane2 had very positive things to say about Black Sails. Not only did they call it the "best-written show" that they'd ever seen, but they had an argument specifically about the lack of plot holes, commenting that "everything and every story goes somewhere" and that the show doesn't have any loose ends as a result.

The Wire (2002 - 2008)

The Wire is lauded as one of the best crime dramas of all time, and the show consistently improves throughout its five incredible seasons.

Redditor alabaster_starfish commented that The Wire is "very realistic" from start to finish, and many fans listed it among the best series they'd ever seen. They did comment that season 5 has a few moments that they deemed as "unrealistic," but no moments that directly included plot holes or unresolved storylines.

Barry (2018 - )

Dark comedy and crime drama Barry is the type of show that covers all the bases. Humor, actions, romance, and more are all present in the fantastic story.

Redditor mmyilamazyurt lauded the dark comedy in Barry, while a few others commented that they believed the show to have some unrealistic elements. Still, the show is full of fantastic moments of comedy and drama and is widely believed to be one of the best ongoing TV series around. Fans can only hope that the final season will deliver as much as the first few.

The Sopranos (1999 - 2007)

Widely believed to be one of the best TV series ever created, The Sopranos follows Tony Soprano and his struggle to balance his family and mobster life.

Reddit user druevickery not only mentions that The Sopranos is "one of the best television series of all time," but they cite the writing as a major reason for the show's success. Despite an ending that's undoubtedly controversial among fans of the series, The Sopranos certainly has the critical acclaim to back up its reputation.

Breaking Bad (2008 - 2013)

Many believe that Breaking Bad is the greatest show to ever grace television. From gut-wrenching drama to the occasional surprisingly hilarious line, Breaking Bad has nearly everything a show can offer.

Multiple Reddit users cited Breaking Bad as being without flaws. More specifically, users commented on the "tight plot" of the show that successfully shows every stage of Walter White's journey from underachieving teacher to powerful drug kingpin, alongside his partner, Jesse Pinkman.

Better Call Saul (2015 - 2022)

Arguably the only show to surpass Breaking Bad since its finale was its prequel/sequel, Better Call Saul. Another powerful drama featuring an incredible anti-hero, the show cemented Vince Gilligan as one of TV's best writer/directors.

Multiple users and the original Reddit poster commented that Better Call Saul is a "very good show with a tight plot," and it was listed among the best series on television. There are not only no major plot holes, but there are arguably no discernable flaws at all in the series other than its reliance on the viewer watching Breaking Bad first.
